New Educational and Support Space Inaugurated at ISTS Technological School in Kiryat Gat - Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools

A new center dedicated to hope, values, and belonging was officially inaugurated on Thursday at ISTS Technological School in Kiryat Gat. The ceremony was held in the presence of Israel’s Minister of Education, Yoav Kisch, and Kiryat Gat Mayor, Kfir Suissa.

The newly unveiled space, named Kanfei Marom (“Wings of Marom”), honors the memory of fallen IDF soldier Roee Marom (z”l) and features a memorial room dedicated to his legacy. Designed as a dynamic educational environment, the space will serve as a hub for teaching values, responsibility, and cultural heritage.

In addition to its educational mission, Kanfei Marom includes a hospitality lounge developed as part of a nutrition initiative for at-risk youth. The program provides students with a hot meal and a respectful, supportive atmosphere where they can also learn vital life skills.

This initiative was made possible through a strong partnership between the school, the Kiryat Gat Municipality, and the “Derech HaKfar” nonprofit organization. The project was led by school principal Avi Hajaj, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in bringing it to life.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Minister of Education and his team, the Mayor of Kiryat Gat, and all those who contributed to making this project a reality,” said Hajaj. “Together, we are investing in a better future for the students of the ISTS network.”
