Industrial Entrepeneurship Prize to students of national competition: a lipstick prevents date rape - Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools

A team of Israel Sci-Tech Schools teenagers invented a LIPSTICK to alert women to a date rape drug in their drink and ‘licked’ the national competition!

Our young entrepreneurs and their team invented a solution to a disturbing worldwide phenomenon: a man secretly sneaks date-rape drug Rohypnol (a heavy sleeping pill) into a woman’s drink, and when she is drugged, kidnaps and rapes her. If the wearer sips her drink and her lips start stinging, it’s a sign that the drink has been laced with the drug. Hence it’s name, Lipsting. The lipstick works for 8 to 12 hours.

Yarden Kedem and Noam Tamir are 9th grade students at Modi’n Sci-Tech School, and their innovation won their team first place in the national “Blue-White” competition, where contestants develop new product ideas thanks to a partnership between the Yeadim Institute and Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Entrepreneurial national winners invented a lipstick to prevent date rape.

“In case people think the lipstick is only for girls, we made it in pink, red and clear so that boys can use it too”, they explained to Orly and Guy. They won because they have a viable product to market.

The girls are on the innovative study track, i-STEAM (innovation-Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).

High-tech with heart – that’s Israel Sci-Tech Schools!

Their interview aired on the popular TV show, Orly and Guy. You will enjoy the girls’ sincerity and pride in this video (even if you don’t understand Hebrew).

The winners called it Lipsting because it makes the lips sting if one drinks a drink laced with date rape drug Rohypnol.
