Green Projects - Eco-Construction Giant Teaches Green Values
10 Israel Sci-Tech schools learn from Shikun & Binui
Yesterday’s ‘tree hugging’ takes on a whole new meaning when world-class Israeli ‘green’ construction company Shikun & Binui comes to school. Staff from Shikun & Binui shifted their focus momentarily from building mega-infrastructures to volunteering at 10 Israel Sci-Tech schools. This is yet another successful collaboration of the Israel Sci-Tech network with industry leaders.
These projects provide our students with real-world learning directly from the experts – and enable companies to make a meaningful social investment. In this case, our long-standing partnership with Shikun & Binui teaches our students and their communities about environmental preservation and sustainability. They learn up-to-date eco-construction methods by quite literally getting their hands dirty.
The projects were rich in life lessons and good values. The gardens were a comfortable meeting place for Jewish teenagers to work with Arab peers from a nearby school, and for youth to toil alongside senior citizens. In Beit She’an Sci-Tech, students were dedicated to creating a memorial for fallen school graduates, opened in the presence of bereaved parents and municipal officials.
A synagogue garden at Kfar Zeitim Sci-Tech Haredi Youth Village in Tiberius puts youngsters in touch with the wonders of nature. Druze students at Wadi Salame Sci-Tech school will continue to clean up valleys, streams and cemeteries.
The beautiful, lasting results are the diversity of gardens. There is an even longer lasting message to Israel Sci-Tech students: that they can make a difference to their schools and communities simply by getting stuck in. Our business partner, Shikun & Binui makes this come alive.
